BUTTERFLY ACRES CATTLE is a small acreage beautifully situated in Northeast Nebraska's long, rolling hills, near a stream called Butterfly Creek.  We have raised cattle here for a number of years, but not until 2008 did we commit ourselves to raising cattle on pasture.  Once that decision was made, the next one - the decision that we would raise Highland cattle - just naturally followed.  Highlands have many attributes which we find desirable, and we further believe that Highlands are central in the production of flavorful, high-quality grass-fed beef.

OUR HIGHLAND HERD is pure enjoyment for us.  In caring for them, we are guided by our belief that cattle ought to be handled gently, that they should be treated humanely and with respect.  Because we are passionate about all things natural and whole and healthy, our cattle graze freely on grass and browse, hay, and the occasional alfalfa treat.  They enjoy fresh water.  They have lots of big trees for shade and for rubs.  And they always have access to shelter, should they want it.
